“Keep the Beat, Move your Feet, Reduce the Heat!”
Youth Health Education Group Kicks Off Nightclub Safety Awareness Program

In response to recent nightclub tragedies and the passage of the Illicit Drug Anti-Proliferation Act, youth health education group DanceSafe is launching a Club Safety Awareness program this week in three areas of the U.S.: the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego and New York City. Under the slogan, “Keep the Beat, Move your Feet, Reduce the Heat!” this program will facilitate an open dialogue between club owners and staff and club patrons to address community health and safety issues, and identify practical solutions to those issues.

ILLICIT DRUG ANTI-PROLIFERATION ACT signed into law - April 30, 2003

Named previously as the RAVE Act of 2002, this renamed legislation still carries the same dangers. Added as a section of the unrelated PROTECT Act (Amber Alert child abduction legislation), this legislation expands the "crack house statute," threatening innocent venue owners, event promoters, and the health and safety of their patrons.

Despite the hundreds of thousands of outcries from concerned citizens, and without public notice, a hearing, or proper debate, this legislation was signed into law. We recieved enough support last year to help stop the RAVE Act in its tracks, now we need you again to help uphold our freedom of speech, right to peacefully assemble, and our right to dance!

Much love,
Your friends at San Diego DanceSafe
